Hong Kong – 19 January, 2023– Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is pleased to announce the appointment of Davin Teo and Henry Chambers as joint leaders of the Disputes and Investigations practice in Asia, following on incumbent team leader Keith Williamson’s mid-2022 relocation to A&M London. Aligned with the Asia leadership change, Mr. Chambers will lead A&M’s forensic accounting offering, while Mr. Teo continues to manage the Forensic Technology team. Simultaneously, Mr. Chambers, based in Hong Kong, and Eden Chen, based in Shanghai, have been promoted to Managing Director.

Mr. Williamson commented: “I am delighted to hand over the reins of the Asia Disputes and Investigations team to Davin and Henry. During our decade of working together, the Asia business has grown in headcount and revenue. With their strong leadership, technical knowledge and unparalleled commitment, A&M Asia will continue to support the market’s needs and provide clients the standards of excellence that A&M’s Disputes and Investigations practice is recognized for across the region.”

“As North Asia reopens the door to international business, we anticipate an increase in cross-border investigations and complex disputes requiring specialist forensic accounting and forensic technology. Henry’s and Eden’s promotion to Managing Director furthers the team’s ability to help clients navigate these challenges.”

With more than 23 years’ experience, Mr. Teo has been leading A&M’s forensic technology team in Asia for the past 10 years. His primary areas of expertise are fraud investigations, electronic discovery, misconduct investigations, intellectual property (IP) theft investigations, dispute matters and data recovery requests. He started his career at Ernst & Young and Grant Thornton in Australia and the UK respectively and co-led Chevron’s in-house global forensic technology team.

“I am excited to serve as the Asia Disputes and Investigations team co-head alongside Henry. The practice’s expertise conducting forensic financial and forensic technology analysis, undertaking cross-border investigations, and supporting clients in litigation and regulatory matters translated into a 25 percent revenue increase in 2022, from which we anticipate future growth,” said Mr. Teo.

Mr. Chambers, a chartered accountant, has extensive experience in forensic accounting and investigation assignments. He focuses on bribery and corruption, accounting fraud, asset tracing, regulatory investigations and most recently applying forensic accounting techniques to digital asset fraud and recovery. Mr. Chambers leads A&M’s cryptocurrency thought leadership group in Asia and is a founding member of the Crypto Fraud and Asset Recovery Network in Hong Kong.

Mr. Chambers said: “It is a privilege to lead our team of professionals as the need for accounting investigations, expert witness services and asset recovery continues to expand in Asia. With the lifting of COVID restrictions in North Asia and ongoing global macroeconomic pressures, I expect a substantial increase in demand for our services.”

Mr. Chen specializes in digital investigations and electronic discovery matters. With more than 11 years’ forensic technology experience, his primary areas of expertise are digital investigations into fraud, misconduct and IP theft matters, as well as providing electronic discovery solutions for dispute and litigation matters.

Mr. Chen said: “In the past ten years, we have observed remarkable growth in demand for forensic technology services in cross-border disputes alongside the introduction of more stringent data compliance regulations in mainland China. Thanks to A&M’s integrated platform and domestic and cross-jurisdiction know-how, our team is well placed to support corporates in this complex environment.”
