Amsterdam – 27^th February 2024– Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has appointed Marius Messer as a Senior Advisor in its Financial Services Industry (FSI) team.

Based in the Amsterdam practice, Marius Messer focuses on advising clients on effective risk management, streamlining complex remediation projects, tackling challenges related to supervisory communication, and enhancing regulatory change processes to boost business profitability and revenue growth. He brings more than 26 years of experience in international business, risk management and regulation from senior roles at ABN AMRO, Fortis and MeesPierson.

Mr Messer most recently served as ANB AMRO’s Head of Credit Risk; his responsibility included the supervision of all credit risks, credit strategy and risk profile of the global loan portfolios with a value of €260 billion. As head of Central Risk Management, he was responsible for the analysis, monitoring and reporting on the bank’s overall risk profile. He was also the key liaison between the bank and all regulatory and supervisory authorities for both Credit Risk and Central Risk Management. Prior to that he was responsible for ABN AMRO’s global energy finance practice.
