Companies collect data related to legal matters for many reasons, from conducting internal audits to meeting litigation / regulatory requirements in response to criminal allegations. Some IT professionals questionably combine data collection by creating a bit-by-bit copy of a targeted database, adding on unnecessary IT and legal costs.
With federal courts often regarding forensic imaging as excessive, many companies are welcoming the chance to streamline e-discovery, reduce costs and find new technologies that are more efficient.
