Mr. Smith has held executive positions in all three “pillars” of the sourcing industry – as buyer, service provider and third party adviser.
Before joining A&M, he was a general manager in the financial services group at CSC, responsible for oversight of global client relationships for the banking and capital markets sector. Previously, Mr. Smith led the managed services relationship management team serving banking and insurance clients in the U.S. In these roles, he had full P&L responsibility and led new business development and the delivery of contracted services.
Earlier, Mr. Smith spent seven years with TPI, the leading global sourcing advisory firm, serving as a partner and managing director responsible for the financial services industry. There, he held various roles, including advising clients on large scale IT and BPO outsourcing transactions, leading the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) practice, and creating and developing tools and methodologies for Service Management and Governance.
At The Citigroup Private Bank in New York, he was Director of Global Technology, managing a globally distributed organization in Switzerland, Singapore, Japan, the U.K., the Bahamas and the U.S. Mr. Smith led a team of 600, internal and outsourced systems development projects, production operations, internal data centers and the use of services provided by Citigroup corporate utilities.
Before that, Mr. Smith was with American Express Bank (AEB) for 16 years, working in a variety of roles including Executive Director, Global Operations and Technology, Head of Global Private Banking Operations and Chief Administrative Officer of AEB Switzerland. At AEB, he managed many strategic projects including the outsourcing of the firm’s technology, the merger of AEB and Trade Development Bank in Switzerland and the centralization of banking operations from various European and Middle East locations into the UK.
He began his career at Nationwide Building Society in the U.K.
Mr. Smith earned a degree in business administration from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland and is a Fellow of the U.K. Institute of Administrative Management. He serves as a director for the University of Strathclyde (USA) Foundation.
