Before joining A&M, he served as the CEO of S-Group Capital Management, a private equity and venture fund of Severstal-Group with over $1 billion under management. The funds and company were built from scratch, with portfolio of assets in U.S., Europe and Russia. Under his leadership, the Group built a strategic position in the travel industry in Europe and Russia. His team also helped to restructure and / or monetize the fund’s non-core assets including an insurance company and a commercial bank.
Before that, he served as a COO of Severstal- Resource, the mining division of Severstal. There, Mr. Yakushev established a new operating model across all iron ore and coking coal mines and managed day-to-day operations. As a result, the mining division became a leader in its industry.
Earlier, he worked with McKinsey & Company in positions ranging from associate to associate principal in Moscow, focusing on operational improvement projects in various industries including metals and mining, oil and gas, FMCG.
Mr. Yakushev earned a master of science degree in applied mathematics and physics (with honors) from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. He also earned an MBA from INSEAD. He is fluent in English and Russian.
